Take 4 days to discover this magnificent circuit in a spectacular Alpine setting at the far limits of two linguistic and cultural regions of Switzerland. There is no technical difficulty in the chosen itinerary and its variants. A rather steep section, Les Audannes Pass, is equipped with ladders and fixed ropes. This circuit is accessible in the summer months for sufficiently experienced hikers who are able to deal with hikes of five to six hours per day. The section where you cross the lapies is rather hard work and needs a lot of attention. You are advised not to hold your sticks but to attach them to your bag, so that you have your hands free.
The Wildhorn tour avoids roads and built-up areas. It is mainly on well marked and maintained mountain paths at an altitude of between 1,400 and 2,900 metres. Lakes, mountain passes, lapies and ridges in a magical setting are scattered along the circuit. Superb points of view let you discover the incredible panoramic landscape from the Valais Alps to Mont Blanc.
Apart from a few mountain huts and inns, there is nowhere for refreshments along the way and rarely any drinking water. Take the necessary precautions. A large section of the circuit is in high-altitude mountains. Weather conditions can rapidly change and it may snow in the middle of summer. Make sure you are suitably equipped.
