Green Spa&Wellness
The Anzère Spa & Wellness
centre offers a setting for relaxation and leisure, and a place of wellbeing
open to all. Ideally located at
the heart of the resort, the building superbly blends into the chalet-type
architecture of Anzère.
We cannot claim
to offer thermal baths, since the water we use does not come from a hot spring,
so we highlight the magnificent panoramic view we offer over to the Valais
Alps. The water in the
pools comes from the mains water network. It is heated to a temperature of 33°C. The energy for
this provided by the recently constructed wood-based heating system.
The Energy Used
Wood is an environment-friendly durable source of heat and is neutral as regards CO2 emissions. During combustion it only releases the quantity of CO2 that it assimilates during growth. In Swiss forests, each year two times more wood grows than is used. The wood pellets used by Anzère’s heating plant are delivered by the Valpellets company in Uvrier, 16 kilometres away.
With the increase in the price of oil, wood is a competitive source of energy today. As a comparison, in Austria, 30% of heating energy comes from wood. In Switzerland, at the present time it only represents 7% whereas the proportion of forests is practically identical.
Anzère Spa and Wellness centre also produces electricity by solar cells at the top of the outside deck. The production of 16,000 kWh will contribute each year to the heating energy needs of the whole centre.
