The Cabane des Audannes, overlooking the lake of the same name, is situated on the most beautiful natural balcony in the Alps.
Perched at an altitude of 2,508 m, it is the mountain refuge used for the ascent of the Wildhorn (3,246 m), the region's emblematic peak. Built in a futuristic architectural style, it is an essential stop on any two-day hike.
Open all year round, Karine Moix, the warden, is on site from March to April and from July to October and looks after her guests with care and attention. The Cabane is accessible from Les Rousses, from the Tseuzier lake or from the Pas de Maimbré.
Situation
- From Sion, go to Les Rousses (route du Rawyl), PTT bus in summer, then signposted mountain path. (2h30)
- From Anzère, take the cable car to the Pas de Maimbré and the path is indicated. (3 hours).
