Bisse de Bitailla
Description
The hike starts at the car park of Anzère cable car station and ends at the camp site in Anzère. The source of the Bisse de Bitaillaz is in Les Évouettes. The Bitaillaz (made up of the words “Bisse” and “Taillaz”) is very old. The earliest documented reference dates to 1307. The Bitaillaz runs underground during its initial stretch and then under open sky. Its water is first divided proportionally between Arbaz and Ayent and then between the various villages. This system of division is a fine example of water management. It is one of the few bisses to be filled with water all year around.
It makes up part of the educational “Museum Trail”.
