Bisse de Bitailla

Along the Sionne mountain valley

Bitailla bisse is very ancient. The first document mentioning it dates back to 1307. The circuit is quite rapid and partly cut into the rock. Its special characteristic is to be filled with water all year round to irrigate a vast territory on the commune of Ayent.

From Anzère

From the gondola (post bus stop), head to Le Gô You will  pass through the Sionne valley to Les Evouettes, where the bisse is filled.  Follow the Bitailla that is firstly in pipes then open to the sky until the Jeuriés distributors. Then take the path down to Saxonne (post bus stop).

From Lombardon Lake

From Lombardon Lake, go down the small road for some hundred or so meters and take the small bisse on the left. This will take you to the Jeuriés distributors then along by the bisse to Les Mayens d’Arbaz summer pastures, where the small bisse intersects with the Ayent bisse.  Then follow the Ayent bisse until it intersects with the Ayent-Anzere road. A little after the road, a path will take you back down to where you started out.  Duration: roughly 1 hour 30 minutes.
